Summer Camp Programs
The FCHA contracts with Penn State Fayette Campus to provide five (5) weeklong day camps for the targeted communities:
- Bierer Wood Acres
- Lemon Wood Acres
- Snowden
- South Hills Terrace
- Dunlap Creek Village
- East View Terrace
- Gibson Terrace
- Fort Mason Village
These camps are held twice a month during June, July, and August. No camps are scheduled during the school year. Each session is estimated to last from 9:30 to 4:00 each day. These camps target youth ages 8 to 16 living in the participating communities. Each camp will have the capacity to host 24 youth per camp session.
A lunch is provided each day. Penn State will be hosting at least three of five scheduled camps at the Penn State Fayette Campus. A business camp, Targeted to 13 - 16 year olds is being scheduled at the Uniontown Mall, to provide interaction with the Mall merchants in a hands on environment. A second session, Art Camp, targeting 8 - 12 years old, may be held at a local area art studio.
The entire proposed camp curriculum is loosely based upon Penn State Fayette Campus "Summer Kids in College Program" which has been successfully held for the last three years on campus.
Transportation will be provided daily by Goodwill Industries.
